Front Carry with Newborn (0+)

Prepare your carrier for use by opening the waist buckle and adjusting the waist webbing to anticipated length. Open safety buckles at the top of the shoulder straps. Slide the chest strap all the way up toward the plastic d-ring on the shoulder straps. This will enable you to reach the strap when it is behind your back.

Lay the carrier flat on a padded soft surface. Carefully slide your baby into the built-in infant insert. Infant insert goes between the baby's legs. Arms can be place either inside or outside the pouch, whichever is most comfortable.

Bring the inside panel over your baby's tummy and secure the buckles on shoulder straps by sliding them UNDER the black loops and bring the remaining black webbing length over the safety loop. Attach the buckles.

Carefully pick up baby in carrier at the d-ring level ONLY and place shoulders straps over your shoulders, one at a time.

Now buckle the waist belt buckle and adjust the length of the waist.

Reach over your head and buckle the chest strap. The chest strap should rest on top of your shoulder blades.

Finally, adjust the length of the shoulder straps by pulling on the ends of the webbing under your arms.

A young infant can also be placed in the carrier while you are standing up. Please see 'Front Carry with Young Child' for directions.

To nurse in your Beco Carrier: loosen the black webbing on the safety buckles at the top of each shoulder strap. Pull slightly on the carrier's body. This will lower baby in the carrier. Reposition the baby inside the carrier toward your breast, so she can latch on.

Front Carry with Young Child
(When baby is tall enough to see over the edge of carrier without needing the infant insert)

Prepare your carrier for use by opening the waist buckle and adjusting the waist webbing to anticipated length. Open the safety buckles at the top of the shoulder straps. Slide the chest strap all the way up toward the plastic d-ring on the shoulder straps. This will enable you to reach the strap when it is behind your back.

Put carrier on your front and place both shoulder straps on your shoulders.

Buckle the chest strap and push it down slightly if you need to. The chest strap should rest on top of your shoulder blades.

Buckle the waist belt buckle.

Hold baby up with one hand and pull your baby's leg under the black webbing strap connected with shoulder strap on your side.

Lower baby's bottom toward center of carrier and pull other leg under the black webbing on your other side.

Make sure baby sits all the way down and centered in carrier. Pulling up on the top edge of the carrier will help accomplish this.

Support your baby with your forearm and use both of your hands to secure each safety buckle at the top of the shoulder straps.

For safety, remember to slide buckle UNDER the safety loop, attach buckle and bring the remaining black webbing length over the safety loop.

Pull on the webbing so the baby sits comfortably close to your body.

Back Carry with Young Child

A back carry is possible as soon as baby has a full head and neck control.

Place your baby in the carrier following the Instructions for Front Carry.

Leave waist belt buckle and chest strap open.

Shift baby's weight onto your thigh. For better balance and support, put your foot onto a step or chair.

Pull your right arm through shoulder strap closest to your baby's right arm, much like putting on a backpack.

Reach behind your back for the left shoulder strap. Bend forward and carefully rotate your baby around your waist.

Use your right hand to support your baby's weight until you have placed the left shoulder strap onto your shoulder.

Buckle the waist belt buckle and adjust the webbing length.

Finally, buckle the chest strap. In back carry the chest strap should rest under your collarbone.
